Fossil Fresh-water Stingray on Matrix Plate (081220h)
- Name: Heliobatis radians (Male) with an overlaying fossil fish
- Age: Eocene Epoch 40 million yrs
- Formation: Green River Formation
- Location: Kemmener, Wyoming
- At the time of death, the stingray came to rest on top of a Knightia fish and there were both fossilized together as you see them
- This is a naturally found specimen and not an inlaid one
- There is some crack repair and some restoration as is normal for these specimens
- Specimen has been backed with cement board for durability and wall hanging if desired
