Spinosaurus aegyptiacus can be translated to Egyptian Spine-backed Lizard, a name they get from their most prominent feature, their sail. This could reach upwards of 5.5 feet tall and stretched across most of the animals body, likely as a way to keep cool in their muggy swamp and marshlands habitat. While first believed to be mainly a bipedal land hunter like the T-Rex, thanks to new fossil evidence we now know that Spinosaurus had much stubbier legs and a paddle tail. These are traits seen in aquatic hunters making the animal far more similar to modern day crocodiles. This is further supported by their conical teeth which are perfectly adapted for hunting fish.

  •  Due to the location these teeth fossilized in being heavily sandstone, Spinosaurus teeth are often brittle and can break easily. These specimens have already been hardened to avoid this in the future, but minor cracks and repairs in the field are common practice and don’t detract much from their overall value.
