Description

Carcinus Macrochelos Crab (251210b)

Species:  Carcinus Macrochelos

Age: Eocene Epoch, 50 million years old

Location: Monte Baldo, Vicenza, Italy

This crab is from an older collection and is not widely available on the market today, making this an outstanding opportunity for new or serious collectors to get involved. This crab is in excellent condition with both claws preserved and on display. Some repair has been done on the claw, but this is unnoticeable without a close inspection and is to be expected with this type of preparation.

This is a male of the species. We know this because of the excellent preservation on the crab’s belly. As in modern examples, the patterns of the armour are used to tell the gender of the crab.

This is a beaustifuk display showing off the claws in extraordinary detail. Because of the way it was prepped, no stand is required as it can support itself perfectly.

Please email us before making a purchase so we can determine how best to get this item to you. Because of the delicate nature of this fossil it may be wise to drive and meet half way, or pick this piece up at one of our shows in person.
