Description

Fossilized Mastodon Tusk “Partial” (062923d)

  • Name: Mastodon americanum  – Tusk Section
  • Age: Late Pleistocene – 65,000 – 11000 yrs
  • Location: San Jacinto County, Texas
  • “Partial” Tusk Section  – 174inch Circumference – 12 inches in Length – Weighs 8.8 pounds!
  • As this section tapers towards one end, this is obviously from near the tip of the Tusk
  • *From Our Classic Display Collection –Custom Mounting on Metal and hardwood stand with Brass ID Plate
  • The Mastodon tusks were massive in size, more straight than curved,  and the surface texture was more course than the mammoth tusks. Considering the massive size and the total mineralization of these specimens we have, including the ivory layer, I would expect these to be at the oldest 65000 age end of their existence here.
  • Very Impressive “Premium” Specimen !   – Specimen has been sealed and hardened -*Custom hardwood base with Brass ID Plate
  • If you have always wanted a Mastodon specimen for your collection – You should definitely consider this one  – Very Good Museum Grade Specimen
  • A mastodon (mastós ‘breast’ + odoús ‘tooth’) is any proboscidean belonging to the extinct genus Mammut (family Mammutidae) that inhabited North and Central America during the late Miocene or late Pliocene up to their extinction at the end of the Pleistocene 10,000 to 11,000 years ago.
