Description
Hypacrosaurus Vertebra (260124L)
Species: Hypacrosaurus sp.
Age: Cretaceous, 74 million years old
Location: Montana, USA
Formation: Two Medicine Formation
Measuring upwards of 30 feet long and weighing 4 tons, Hypacrosaurus’ name means “near the highest lizard” because its size is very close, though not quite as large as that of the Tyrannosaurus Rex (which was also their top predator based on remains having been found with Rex bitemarks). As a duckbilled dinosaur, Hypacrosaurs were herbivores, eating a variety of plants while traveling in large herds. From nest fossils, we also know that these dinosaurs were tight-knit family units with nests rarely being discovered without parents nearby.
This is an incredible, near-perfect neck vertebra from an uncommon dinosaur, perfect for any serious collector.
This fossil was found on private land in areas otherwise inaccessible for public access and prepared by the discoverers, who are also expert preparators and friends of ours.
Comes with a COA and a custom stand as pictured
