Description
Ichthyosaurus Bone Cluster (260216L)
Species: Unknown sp.
Age: Lower Jurassic, 180 years old
Location: Jurassic Coast, United Kingdom
While ichthyosaurs closely resembled fish or sharks, they were actually reptiles. Their lineage carried on for millions of years, and came in all shapes and sizes, ranging from the length of only a few feet to longer than school buses.
This plate contains two vertebrae, a complete vertebral process, and ribs of an ichthyosaur, as well as several clams and multiple different ammonites. This is all visible from the surface, but there are likely other remains within the matrix as well. This piece is a beautiful example of the diversity of life during the Jurassic. The fossil sits perfectly on its own or in a stand and would make a great addition to any collection.
Offer includes a custom metal stand, name tag, and Certificate of Authenticity
