Oreodont Skull (260211g)
Species: Merycoidodon culbertsoni
Age: Oligocene, 33 million years ago
Location: Pennington, South Dakota, USA

This fossil contains the nearly complete skull of a Merycoidodon, a species of oreodont. The skull, while missing a few features like the cheekbones and eye orbitals is in amazing shape, especially the teeth and lower jaw. This is a great 360-degree display specimen that can stand up on its own without the use of a stand. Additionlly the coloration here is very nice with some rust red sneaking through the blue-grey majority.
This piece has been sealed to protect it from degradation, but is otherwise completely original and natural.
Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
